Michigan Virtual Learning Research Institute Initiatives

Good morning!

The Michigan Virtual Learning Research Institute (MVLRI) has been hard at work cultivating a network where researchers in the field of K-12 online and blended learning can connect, collaborate, and disseminate their work. To foster this network, we have expanded our social media presence. Join us at:

MVLRI also began the MVLRI Blog. This blog is a great space to share your research, so if you or anyone you know is interested in sharing work, please email mvlri@mivu.org. As part of the blog, podcasts and vodcasts will be created to share interviews with researchers, new research in the Clearinghouse, etc. New blog posts will be shared via the social media outlets mentioned above.

MVLRI will also start offering free webinars to share recent research regarding K-12 online and/or blended learning. If you’re interested in presenting or hearing a specific topic, please email mvlri@mivu.org. The webinars will vary in length and topic. The first one will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2-2:30 p.m. EDT. Register for the first webinar here – https://www.eventbrite.com/e/michigan-virtual-learning-research-institute-mvlri-initiatives-tickets-12552586123

Along with the blog and webinars, MVLRI is hosting quarterly collaborative meetings for researchers to come together virtually in order to request critical feedback on current research and share opportunities for collaboration, including but not limited to ongoing research, grant proposals, books, papers, book chapters, conferences, etc. The quarterly meetings will start in fall 2014 with the first meeting in October. The other three quarterly meetings will occur in January, April, and July.

The meetings will take place in Adobe Connect and will be recorded so that those who cannot attend will be able to watch/listen to the recording. Meetings include two presentations where presenters have 15 minutes to share their work and five minutes to field questions. There will be a call for presenters issued prior to the collaborative meetings. In addition to the quarterly collaborative meetings, there will be meet-ups planned at upcoming conferences. To find out about upcoming meetings, webinars, etc., please join MVLRI’s social media accounts mentioned above and/or email mvlri@mivu.org.

Please feel free to share this information with others.

Enjoy your day!
