Blended and Online Learning and Teaching (BOLT)

Professional Learning Opportunity
Athabasca University, Canada’s leader in online post‐secondary education, and the Alberta DistanceLearning Centre, Alberta’s premier distance learning partner for K‐12 education, are excited to present an innovative, module offering for the professional development of K‐12 teachers.  BOLT modules are delivered exclusively online to allow you to study where you live and work, and include relevant professional readings, online discussion, and guest speakers. Build a professional learning network (PLN), create a community of practice (CoP), and acquire digital learning techniques, including open educational resources (OER). Modules and assignments apply evidence‐based research to professional practice and include the pedagogy and strategies to support online, blended and distance learning.
BOLT provides an entry into graduate level studies in a manageable and flexible manner. Comprised ofnine separate, one‐credit modules of Master of Education course curriculum, modules are designed specifically for teaching professionals. Take one, some or all the modules to personalize your learning needs. BOLT modules run counter to the intense periods of the K‐12 calendar, allowing teachers the opportunity for immersive, sustained learning.
Take all nine courses to receive a Post‐Baccalaureate Certificate in Technology ‐ Based Learning. For graduate degree holders or for those who just want the learning, auditing is available to update your understanding of technology integration and digital pedagogy.
Spread the word ‐ BOLT is digital learners ‐ digital tools ‐ digital pedagogy.
