2017 iiE Gathering Highlights
- Jeff Stewart, principal of Navigate/NIDES, opened with an inspiring keynote detailing the district’s history and story of innovation
- Six incredible storytellers told of when they learned from play – full recording is here.
- Participants joined together with others in a playful collaborative activity where they worked on a task to “create a prototype of a playful monument, or a monument to play.” Check out the results of the activity here.

Blended Online Learning and Distance Education (BOLDE) Research Bank
- BOLDE contains details of books, articles, conference papers and reports on various aspects of distance and online education, from publishers in Australia and overseas.
- Material is drawn from the Australian Education Index, produced by Cunningham Library, with additional material sourced from a variety of international organisations and publishers.
- There are currently 11,847 records in the research bank.

ICDE’s World Conference for Online Learning – Abstracts & Presentations
- The World Conference on Online Learning, organized and hosted by Contact North | Contact Nord, featured some 150 plenaries, concurrent sessions, concurrent workshops, panel discussions, special briefings and poster presentations over a 4-day period presented by some 500 presenters.
- For the benefit of the 1,400+ delegates attending the World Conference on Online Learning and the broader online learning community, Contact North | Contact Nord published a summary document of the presentations, including links to the Abstract submitted, as well as the PowerPoint presentations for each of the sessions.
- The summary document is available in an Adobe PDF format (English only) and is searchable using the Find option from the Edit menu or the Find icon in the toolbar.

- Helping Online Students Be Successful: Mentor Responsibilities (PDF)
As online enrollments increase, there is a growing need to examine strategies with the potential to improve course outcomes, especially since students in online courses tend to have less success compared to their face-to-face counterparts (Freidhoff, 2016; Miron, G., Gulosino & Horvitz, 2014). One strategy that shows promise is to provide students with an on-site mentor in addition to their online teacher.
