October Newsletter

As October marches on, we trust you were able to relax over Thanksgiving, spend time with family, and enjoy some downtime after the frenetic start of the school year.

First, we ask that all program leaders please complete our program survey to update our State of the Nation research.  This data will complement what the study collects from jurisdictional ministries and enable us to cross-reference and confirm trends while enabling us to share effective, quality online practices.

Second, you will also find updates on AI research and conversations shared by two of CANeLearn’s founding leaders, Michael Canuel and me, Randy LaBonte.  Check out the AI Balloons chat!

Finally, as the “Ides of Fall” creep closer, and before the ghosts and goblins appear, this newsletter will catch you up on the CANeLearn research and upcoming learning events as well.

CANeLearn Supports Research Study
For more details or to participate, please contact:

CANeLearn is conducting research starting this month through the Fall and into the spring.  Online programs from across Canada will be selected to study the supports provided for online learning students.  See details here.

There will be two branches for the research.  One will be completed by individual programs as part of their own data collection, sharing anonymized data with CANeLearn.  The second uses ethical oversight to explore more deeply the reasons why some supports are more widely used by students than others.

Researchers will explore what types of support are available to students, what students are aware of, and what types of support they actually use.  Interested?  Let us know by emailing us at info@CANeLearn.net
