2017 Leadership Summit Summary

Leading K-12 and post-secondary practitioners from Ontario and across Canada gathered on August 24 and 25, 2017 in downtown Toronto for the CANeLearn Leadership Summit: Leading eLearning Spaces & PlacesEducational leaders from across Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Education, as well as Ontario practitioners led sessions on emerging trends, issues and research in e-learning for online and blended learning K-12 programs.

    • David Porter, CEO of eCampusOntario, provided an overview of this new organization of post-secondary institutions and how they are pioneering new directions in e-learning of interest to all educators – K-12 and higher ed. Learn how eCampusOntario is Rethinking learning resources, Rethinking learning experiences, and Rethinking recognition of learning.
  • eLearning Showcase: From Design Principles to eLearning Program Implementation

    • Showcase of award-winning, exemplary e-learning programs from across Canada, strategies and approaches that can be applied in your own school or district.  Presentations included Navigate/NIDES, LEARN, and Rocky View Schools.
  • Making Sense of Sharing: Pan-Canadian Conssortia Models

    • Educators from across Canada are finding ways to share resources, practices, and even learners. Consortia leaders from Ontario and CANeLearn share some of the unique ways they are helping teachers and program leaders increase e-learning across schools, districts, and communities, and how similar strategies can be applied in your own setting.

    • eLearning Programs for Adults – presentation of exemplary programming for adults followed by discussion of how to improve your own ability to engage adults effectively in e-learning programs
    • eTeacher Training Programs – an overview of current training programs for teachers moving to e-learning programs followed by a discussion of how Queens University and CANeLearn can help support boards in their efforts to help teachers transition to e-learning
    • Assessment and Evaluation in eLearning – a roundtable discussion of assessment and evaluation strategies in e-learning
    • eLearning and the Provincial Funding Registers – discussion of Ontario e-learning & provincial funding registers to support adult, continuing education, and e-learning programs
    • Engaging Students and Reducing Attrition in eLearning – a roundtable discussion about engaging students more effectively in e-learning programs
