This Year’s Keynote – Will Thalheimer, Ph.D.“Getting Unstuck in Learning Evaluation: Three Practical Research-Inspired Innovations”

As learning professionals, we create learning opportunities to help people improve their work performance. But how do we know how well we’re doing? More than half of us report wanting to substantially improve the way we do learning evaluation. Let’s repeat that: More than half of us want to substantially improve our evaluations! We are dissatisfied with our learner surveys, unhappy with our general approaches to evaluation, and wishing for more from our elearning knowledge checks. In this provocative keynote, leading research-to-practice pioneer Will Thalheimer will introduce three learning-evaluation innovations that bring hope and new ideas to the practice of evaluation. Will’s goal in his evaluation work is to introduce practical, research-inspired methods we can use to gain insights about our success—insights we can use to support our learners in learning and work performance. Learning evaluation is one of the hardest things we do as learning professionals, and while it is extremely difficult if not impossible to gain full insight, it is relatively easy to make substantial improvements in our current practices! In this keynote, Will Thalheimer gets us started.
