Canadian eLearning Network: April 2nd and Sunday April 6th events

Greetings all.  I am writing to you on behalf of Michael Canuel, CEO of LEARN and president of CANeLearn – our newly formed organization the Canadian e-Learning Network (https://new.canelearn.net).

At the July 2013 Summer Summit meeting in Montréal we were successful in agreeing on how to move our shared initiative forward, including an organizational structure with a refined mission/purpose.  A lot has transpired since that meeting and this email is intended to invite you to an overview session about what we have done and where we are going.  We have narrowed activity focus to the following three topics: pooling and sharing resources, creating a common repository; communications and professional development strategy; and measuring learning success.
It is with great pleasure on behalf of the Canadian e-Learning Network that we invite you to an online meeting broadcast April 6 from Vancouver at 4:30 pm Pacific // 7:30 pm Eastern.  If you are in Vancouver, please join us onsite for the meeting.

CANeLearn is hosting an information session on April 6, 2014 at 16:30 PST at the Coast Plaza Hotel and Suites at Stanley Park – 1763 Comox Street Vancouver BC (Comox Room).  The meeting is part of a conference event planned by BC online and blended educators (http://conference.learnnowbc.ca/ – some sessions are live online).  During the presentation attendees will have the opportunity to learn about our new CANeLearn organization and how it is bringing together educators involved in online and blended learning from across Canada.

The Canadian eLearning Network is a registered Canadian not-for-profit society and its mission is to provide leadership that champions student success in online and blended learning.  CANeLearn provides members with networking, collaboration, and research opportunities.

We hope you can join us at the meeting, or upcoming ones we are planning.  Scroll down for information on how to join online for Sunday’s meeting.  There is also an online CIDER presentation tomorrow (April 2) on the State of the Nation: K12 Online Learning in Canada you might be interested in.  Information is below as well.
These presentations are part of our “soft launch” for growing our network.  The plan is for a formal launch and call for membership combined with the first annual general meeting to be held online in September 2014.  Thank you all for your valuable input over the past year.  We look forward to our continued work in helping to shape online and blended learning in Canada.

Should you have any questions, please let one of us know.  We hope to connect with you online Sunday or in-person.

Regards,

Randy
